The Beige Revolution

I recently came across this new utopian, grassroots organisation on the unternet who are calling themselves The Beige Revolution. They say:

We are a broad federation united against the Cameron Regime. We are dedicated to filling in online petitions, "liking" stuff on Facebook and other mediocre means of expressing our dissent. Join the Beige Revolution! Or get a snack. It's all the same. Down with the Cameron Regime, it's the British Spring! The Beige Revolution has begun! Neither Washington nor Moscow but somewhere over the Beige Rainbow

I think that's something I can support. I mean I really think it is.

Stranded in the Jungle – New York Dolls

Stranded in the Jungle by the New York Dollies. I think this may prove to be the definitive funeral song. I mean I wanna see the kids dance at that thing.

RIP Mackerel

Our dear friend Mackerel has been gone a week now. He was ten years auld, nearly. Goodbye dear fellow.

Stuff people said

Best cat ever. Fact.
— SMT

He was a leader and a pacifist. He was prize-winning in size and had a patience with other animals and children alike.
— BMRT

He was the king of all cats for which I credit both his fabulous nature and also the way his mummy brought him up.

Mithics

Do you know Minty B? I am a big fan of her work, perhaps one of the biggest fans of her work. Anyway, if you know her then you may be interested to know that she has started a new blog. It's pretty darn awesome if you ask me.

You should always keep in touch with your friends

So I was in town and I never go in to town and I had this emergency belt situation so I went into Top Shop. And I never go into Top Shop. This was late on Monday afternoon, evening really. And I felt slightly self-conscious about being too auld for the place but I was wearing Warwick's red woolly hat which really helped with that. And so I was trying on a belt when the in-store corporate DJ shuffled up The Wedding Present's You Should Always Keep In Touch With Your Friends and I was sort of transported into one of those instant really ace existential reveries. I didn't recognise the next record but it sounded really horrible, like Dinosaur Jr doing Bob Dylan or something and it was all over, it was back to the existential dredd. Anyway, for a moment there I never felt so auld.

The (prestigious) Thackray Medal

From 28 March 2009: Darwin Online was awarded the prestigious Thackray Medal by the Society for the History of Natural History which writes — 'From a strong field of nominated works, the Society's Prize Committee chaired by the Vice-President Geoff Moore, was unanimous in their selection of "The complete work of Charles Darwin Online" for the award of the Society's John Thackray Medal for 2008. The medal is awarded for a significant achievement in the history of those areas of interest to the Society in memory of John Thackray'. Further notes as to its provenance here.

The ϟkidϟ – Fields

Now I'm not trying to get people to think about the ϟkidϟ, because I'm talking about the Red Crayon Faction, but the Skids were one of my favourite groups of course.
